The Sands is located 1 hour 45 minutes west of Canada's Capital, on the highway 60 corridor, and just 45 minutes to the east gate of Algonquin Park. There's something for every traveller to explore. Our backyard is Renfrew County and it's made up of 2.4 million hectares of breathtaking wilderness. Truly a nature-lovers paradise, the Ottawa Valley is located between Algonquin Park and the Ottawa River. With 900 lakes, four major river systems, and world-class Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking—there’s plenty to experience in your free time. If you like, you don’t even have to venture off the Sands campus for we have an expanse of lakeside activities and beaches just steps from our door.
Chalets features: All Chalets are on two levels and sleep six (3 bedrooms). They provide spacious living areas with full kitchen, fireplace, and deck overlooking the lake. All of our well-appointed Chalets include all linens and towels (with the exception of beach towels).

Cottage features: a one level cottage that sleeps six (3 bedrooms), dining and living room space with vaulted ceilings, satellite TV, propane woodstove, fully equipped kitchen, spacious lake-front deck, and includes all linens and towels (with the exception of beach towels).

The Sands spacious Restaurant provides clusters of smaller tables for more intimate lake-view dining. They also host a Lounge area for larger groups: like bikers and snowmobilers. It's the perfect combination of a spectacular view and a menu that has never tasted so good.
Our chef caters to your every whim from classic breakfasts, tasty lunches, to delectable dinners. We even have an extensive takeout menu for locals and cottagers that feel like taking a night off from the kitchen. Weather you dine in or take out, our menus will tantalize your taste buds. Our buffets and special holiday brunches are big hits and offer a huge selection and appetizing medley to choose from.
The Sands Restaurant also caters to larger events. Our lower lounge, known as the Deacon Room is perfect for hosting birthday parties, family reunions, anniversaries, and corporate events. It's also the ideal venue for intimate weddings of up to a 100 guests. You identify the size of group that you'd like to entertain and we'll provide the scrumptious bites and special venue.

Sands on Golden Lake Reservation & Rental Policies
Reservation Guarantee Policy
Sands on Golden Lake requires that all reservations be guaranteed by a valid credit card number and expiry date at the time of booking. Cards will used to secure the room, the rate is subject to increase. July & Aug – Weekend rooms require a 2 night minimum stay. Cottages & chalets require a 7 night minimum stay. Rooms can be reserved for 1 night, except for Holiday Weekends, winter sledding weekends and Special Events, we do maintain a 2 night minimum. Cottage & chalets require a 2 night minimum stay on weekends outside of the summer months (summer months require a weekly minimum).
Reservation Cancellation
Due to our intimate size, cancellations affect us significantly. A last minute cancellation gives us little chance of filling the space due to our remote location. For these reasons we uphold a strict cancellation policy. Chalets and cottages require a non-refundable deposit upon booking a week stay. Should you need to cancel or change your reservation we require 48hrs notice for room rentals, this does include Events or the Deacon Room rental. Cottage and Chalet Rentals require 4 weeks notice during Peak Season (May – October), and 48hrs notice during off season. No exceptions.
The deposit at booking time is non-refundable.
Reservation "No Show" Charge
The Sands will charge the credit card on file at the booked rate for any reservations that fail to check-in to the resort on the scheduled arrival date. A full weeks rental charge + tax will be applied on any cottage or chalet rental (May thru Oct), to those failing to show for a reservation or adhere to the cancellation policy.
Check In, Check Out Time
Check-in time is guaranteed for anytime after 3:00pm, checkout time is 11:00am. If your check-in time is later than 8:00pm please make arrangements with our front desk for a late check-in.
Pet Policy
Sands on Golden Lake is proud to offer a pet free environment. Violators will be subject to a $250.00 cleaning charge.
Smoking Policy
Sands on Golden Lake is proud to offer smoke free accommodations. Violators will be subject to a $250.00 cleaning charge. Occupancy Policy For each person over the maximum occupancy of a room or cottage there will be an additional charge of $20.00 per person per night. Due to safety regulations a strict 6 person max per cottage/chalet will be enforced.
Minimum Age for Room Occupants
Guests must be 19 years of age or older to rent a room with The Sands. The Sands reserves the right to ask for photo I.D. to verify the room occupant's ages upon check-in.
Credit Card Payment The Sands accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Upon check-in at the hotel, a pre-authorization will be put on your credit card for the total room and taxes, plus a deposit amount (this is not a charge, only a pre-authorization). You will be required to stop at the front desk upon checkout to verify your room charges, and sign your final credit card receipt.
Personal/Company Cheque The Sands does not accept personal cheques for payment of a guest room. The Sands will accept a company cheque for payment upon departure from the hotel. The Sands reserves the right to ask for a credit card number, and/or photo I.D. when accepting a cheque for payment. Any cheques returned as Non-Sufficient Funds are subject to a fee of $60.00.
Inn & Resort Quiet-Time
Out of respect for our individual guests, The Sands enforces a "quiet-time" policy between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. This covers all property of The Sands and guest rooms (no loud activities, loud noise from audio equipment or other appliances). Guests who do not observe our "quiet-time policy" may be asked to leave or denied guest room reservations. Should a guest room be asked to leave the hotel, the cost of the guest room and deposit will not be refunded to the evicted guests.
Alcohol Policy
All alcohol consumed on the resort grounds must be licensed by the Sands. Any alcohol brought onto Sand’s property is restricted to the guest rooms, chalets or cottages.
